Where to begin?

N iche, Niche, Bloody Niche (or so many Niches, so little time)

There really are endless possiblities for starting up an internet based marketing business. From online stores hocking specific products or services, to blogging out interesting content and receiving ad revenue, to affiliate and membership sites, and those are just the well know options.

Niche marketing is all the rage, but there are so many niches to choose from it’s hard to pick the right one. Most niches will probably either bomb because not enough people care, or the niche will be so popular that your competition will drive all your traffic to there sites.

And then there’s the choice of a platform. Should you build your own WordPress or Blogger site, hire a firm to design a unique site from the ground up, go back to school and learn all the programming yourself, or buy some ready to go eCommerce site or platform? There’s free blogs and sites out there as well – it’s like a fricken smorgasbord of choice.

And that can freeze many a would-be entrepreneur dead in their tracks. And no matter which method you choose, you’re bound to have issues along the way.

The main thing is to begin something. Here’s an interesting story from a poster at my favorite Mastermind Site.

This year I started 30 day challenge and life got in the way in the middle of the challenge and diverted my attention….but not before I created the ‘not-so-attractive’ Coffee Travel Mugs site. I put one post up…I have a hubpage and an ezine article link pointing back..and at one point in August I was on the front page of google.

As you can see, I never even finished the site, and there are several things that I didn’t even change because of life’s intervention. However, last week I was notified by Amazon of two commission sales from the site.

The point is, he only did a few things to get a site off the ground, and then more or less forgot about it, and he still had a sale.
